Aventis provides reSound R PC for the Asian market, which is a series of polycarbonate products containing 10% to 30% glass filler, with a recyclable content ranging from 25% to 75%.
Evante, a professional supplier of sustainable materials solutions and services, today launched several new post-consumer recycling (PCR) and post-industrial recycling (PIR) product portfolios. With consumer demand for more sustainable, environmentally friendly products and increased regulatory pressure, the reSound R portfolio of recyclable ingredients can help brand owners achieve their sustainability goals. Launched today are reSound R PC polycarbonate, reSound R VX TPEs and reSound R ND polyamide.
According to the prediction of relevant experts, by 2030, more than 400 million tons of plastic waste may be produced globally every year. Faced with these predictions, many brands have pledged to increase the renewable plastic content in their products. Evante has developed these new recyclable ingredients to help customers achieve their goals and provide more options for the circular economy.
Recyclable polycarbonate
Aiming at the Asian market, Aventis currently offers reSound R PC, which is a series of polycarbonate products containing 10% to 30% glass filler, with a recyclable content ranging from 25% to 75%. In terms of tensile elongation, tensile strength, Izod notch impact, flexural modulus and flexural strength, several grades in this product portfolio are comparable to the original PC. It is currently only available for sale in the Asian market, and the global supply situation is under evaluation and will be determined based on the regional procurement capacity.
Recyclable TPE and polyamide
The injection moldable reSound R VX TPE makes full use of 25% PCR and up to 40% PIR components, and both grades can be overmolded on polypropylene (PP). This product is available in North America. The PCR grade is made from recycled ocean plastics from Oceanworks®, which is a participant in the Alliance to End Plastic Waste "Acceleration Program", a non-profit organization that includes founding member Evante organization. These TPE grades are made specifically for consumer applications and can be used in personal care products, lawn and garden tools, outdoor supplies, office supplies, footwear and durable household products.
In addition, Aventis is expanding its polyamide product portfolio to include reSound R ND with post-consumer ingredients. These nylon formulations contain 100% PCR resin, available in PA6 and PA66 grades, as well as various contents of glass fiber and mineral reinforced materials. The products are mainly for applications in the consumer goods, automotive and sports markets.
TPE and recyclable nylon 6 and 66 are available in North America. The global supply situation is currently being assessed and will be determined based on the regional procurement capacity.
"Avante is committed to achieving customer goals through material science to promote circular economy." Xu Tao, general manager of the Special Engineering Materials Division of Avante Asia, commented, "These new reSound product portfolios are our continued investment And expand these examples of sustainable solutions."
In addition to advancing material science solutions to achieve the customer’s sustainable development goals, Evante joined the “End Plastic Waste Alliance” as a founding member in 2019 to support its commitment to invest US$1.5 billion within five years to end the environment Plastic waste project.
Note: On July 1, 2020, PolyOne and Clariant masterbatches merged into a new material company-Evante, dedicated to solving the challenges faced by customers and stimulating global innovation and sustainable development potential.
