Honeywell announced today that Guangxi Huayi New Materials Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Shanghai Huayi Group, will adopt Honeywell UOP’s C3 Oleflex™ propane dehydrogenation technology to produce 750,000 tons/year of polymerization at its Qinzhou plant in Guangxi. Grade propylene.
Honeywell UOP is a leading technology supplier in the oil and gas industry and will provide services, catalysts and adsorbents for the Huayi plant. This project marks the 38th C3 Oleflex device successfully authorized by Honeywell UOP in China. This process technology can effectively meet the continued strong growth of propylene as the main raw material of plastic resin, film and fiber in the Chinese market.
"Our cooperation with Huayi based on Oleflex propane dehydrogenation technology marks the landing of our second 750,000-ton/year plant in China, and also proves that China's demand for propylene derivatives is growing substantially." Honeywell UOP Mr. Xiang Lei, vice president and general manager of the China region, said, “In view of our rich business experience, Huayi chose Oleflex technology and will use this process to produce propylene raw materials for downstream acrylic acid plants and cumene and phenol plants. To support the production of industrial and consumer products."
Honeywell UOP's C3 Oleflex™ technology uses catalytic dehydrogenation to convert propane to propylene. Compared with similar technologies, it has lower cash production costs and higher return on investment. Oleflex technology is based on a platinum-containing catalyst system with alumina as the carrier, which has the characteristics of low energy consumption, low emission, and complete recyclability, which can greatly reduce the impact on the environment. In addition, the relatively independent reaction and regeneration system of Oleflex technology can improve operational flexibility and online reliability.
Shanghai Huayi (Group) Company is a large state-owned chemical industry group, which mainly produces chemical products such as methanol, acetic acid, acrylic acid and esters, as well as plastics, paints, pigments and dyes. As a subsidiary of Shanghai Huayi, Guangxi Huayi New Materials Co., Ltd. is responsible for the construction, management and operation of the second phase of the project in Guangxi, China.
